Vapor blasting is a combination of blasting media and water combined with air pressure. Vapor blasting will not damage the substrate metal. The water provides a cushion for the blasting media as well as cleans and keeps the metal cool while providing a bright satin finish. Wet blasting is also used to prepare surfaces for coatings from paint to chrome and can be used on all metals and plastic surfaces.

Wet blasting is utilized in many industries including:

Vapor Blasting is used in tool and die cleaning and also sometimes treating the surfaces of a mould for better part release. When using abrasive like plastic grit you can remove any contaminates from the molding process without damage to the mould halves ensuring perfect parts. When applying matte finishes to surfaces of a mould this will sometimes aid in better part release with certain plastics.

The use of the wet blasting process to de burr and or finish CNC parts is becoming a big hit. The reason for this big hit is because of the flow based nature of the slurry. It gently runs across a delicate surface helping retain its form and function. This process helps speed up operations in the de burring department helping remove smaller burrs. It also has been used in heat treat departments removing heat treat scale preparing for a coating. Lastly, wet blasting has been used in providing consistent and repeatable surface finishes on many aesthetic parts.

Vapor blasting is becoming a top priority for many automotive restoration shops. Why? With wet blasting you can clean restore and protect history with one simple step using wet blasting. With the flow-based topography following nature of the wet slurry you can clean corrosion rust and years of grime and tarnish out of the tightest places in record time. Vapor blasting can even get into the valleys of most tough to reach area. Sooner or later this process will be the best way to go.
